All Campus Email From Katie Callow-Wright, Executive Vice President of the University (June 2, 2022)
We are looking forward to welcoming the University community and guests to campus this week for Convocation and a range of events and activities marking the end of the academic year. As we prepare for these celebrations, I am writing to reinforce the need for public health precautions.
The University strongly recommends that individuals wear a mask at all indoor events and on public transportation. This is in line with the Chicago Department of Public Health’s recommendation for indoor masking following the May 26 elevation of the City of Chicago’s COVID-19 risk level to “high,” in light of recent elevated metrics. While the decision to mask is your own, we ask that you carefully consider this extra precaution to help prevent further increases in cases.
Our community has been thoughtful in taking steps to limit the spread of COVID-19, and we ask that you continue to use caution for year-end events. As always, it is important to stay home if you have potential COVID-19 symptoms or if you test positive. Please visit Chicago’s COVID-19 website for additional citywide information, and visit UChicago Forward for information on the University’s precautions.
Thank you for your partnership as we look forward to a safe and successful end of the year.
